Ekoten Tekstil, a subsidiary of Sun Tekstil and a leading name in textile manufacturing, is advancing sustainability by incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) in its production processes. Through real-time AI defect detection, the company enhances fabric quality while reducing waste, strengthening its commitment to eco-friendly manufacturing. This smart monitoring technology increases accuracy, optimises resources, and significantly cuts the environmental impact of textile production.

“Our AI-driven systems allow us to detect and correct textile defects before they lead to unnecessary reprocessing, reducing waste and optimising resource use,” said Sabri Ünlütürk, Vice Chairman of the Board of Sun Tekstil and Ekoten Tekstil. “This technology strengthens both efficiency and sustainability in our manufacturing processes.”

AI-Driven Water Conservation in Textile Manufacturing

Textile production is highly water-intensive, with dyeing and finishing stages responsible for nearly 20% of global industrial water pollution. By detecting defects earlier, Ekoten Tekstil’s AI technology minimises the need for re-dyeing and reprocessing, thus conserving substantial amounts of water.

With water scarcity becoming an increasing global concern, particularly as droughts affect both communities and industries, conservation efforts are more critical than ever. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), droughts impact 55 million people each year, worsening global water shortages. Ekoten Tekstil’s commitment to efficiency not only supports its sustainability goals but also contributes to wider environmental conservation efforts.

Pioneering Sustainability and Inclusive Workforce Practices

Ekoten Tekstil’s sustainability credentials extend beyond water conservation. The company has once again received an A rating in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change assessment, outperforming the global textile industry average of B and the worldwide average of C. Additionally, it has achieved an A/Leadership ranking in the CDP Supplier Engagement Ranking for three consecutive years, placing it among the world’s most sustainable supply chain leaders.

Beyond its environmental initiatives, Ekoten Tekstil is also committed to workplace diversity, ensuring women play key roles in leadership and production. This focus on inclusivity strengthens its long-term vision of integrating innovation with ethical business practices.

“Innovation is not just about technology—it’s also about fostering an inclusive and forward-thinking workplace,” Ünlütürk said. “At Ekoten Tekstil, we believe that sustainable success comes from both operational advancements and a diverse, empowered workforce.”

With continued investment in AI-driven technology, sustainability, and workplace diversity, Ekoten Tekstil is shaping a more responsible and forward-thinking future for textile manufacturing.
