Gate.io Event Contracts Builder Launches With $3m Developer Grant

Investors and fintech developers watching the prediction-market sector learned on 7 August 2026 that Gate.io event contracts infrastructure is now available as a white-label toolkit, accompanied by a $3 million grant programme for third parties who build on top of it, according to a GlobeNewswire release issued by Gate Technology Incorporated from Panama City.

The product, called Event Contracts Builder and developed under the Gate DexBuilder division, is aimed at brokers, fintech companies and Web3 developers who want to offer prediction markets under their own brand without building the underlying trading, settlement and liquidity systems themselves.

What the Gate.io Event Contracts Builder Actually Includes

The toolkit covers market creation, order handling, liquidity access, settlement, risk controls and an operational dashboard for monitoring user activity. According to TradeInformer, supported market categories extend beyond crypto prices to sporting events, esports, economic data releases, artificial intelligence developments and broader industry events.

The $3 million grant programme covers product development, technical integration, liquidity building, market launch and user growth. Builders designated as outstanding also gain access to technical support, official showcases, joint AMAs and media promotion. Gate has not disclosed how many applicants will receive funding, individual award sizes, or the selection timetable, TradeInformer reports.

‘The future of event contract markets will depend on a broader range of application scenarios and open infrastructure,’ said Jason Fung, Head of Gate DexBuilder. ‘We are removing the need for teams to build trading systems and settlement architecture from scratch.’

How This Differs From Polymarket and Kalshi

The positioning sets Gate.io apart from the two most visible names in the sector. Polymarket operates its own prediction-market venue directly. Kalshi offers API access to its own exchange, which is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as a Designated Contract Market (DCM), a federally recognised exchange category for futures, swaps and options, as the Kalshi Help Center explains.

Gate.io is positioning Event Contracts Builder as neutral infrastructure: other companies plug in, apply their own branding and run their own venues. Gate supplies the plumbing; the builder supplies the audience.

That distinction matters for understanding the regulatory risk each party carries. Kalshi’s DCM status has been tested recently. On 6 April 2026, a divided panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ruled in KalshiEX LLC v. Flaherty, No. 25-1922, that the Commodity Exchange Act preempts state gambling laws as applied to sports-related event contracts traded on CFTC-registered designated contract markets, affirming a preliminary injunction that stopped New Jersey from enforcing its gambling laws against Kalshi. The ruling, summarised by Holland and Knight, was the first federal appellate decision of its kind. It does not directly govern platforms outside the US federal framework, but it signals that the legal perimeter around event contracts is still being drawn.

Gate.io’s infrastructure model means individual builders using Event Contracts Builder will face their own regulatory questions depending on where they operate and what markets they list. A sports-event contract that is legal on a CFTC-registered US exchange may sit in a grey zone on an unregulated platform in another jurisdiction.

What This Means for Brokers and Retail Platforms

For a retail-facing broker or fintech app, the practical offer is the ability to add prediction-market products to an existing platform without the engineering overhead of building settlement and liquidity infrastructure from scratch. The grant programme could offset early development costs for smaller teams.

The structural challenge for any new venue in this space is the liquidity cold-start problem: event-contract markets need order flow to attract users, but they need users to generate order flow. Gate.io’s toolkit provides access to its own liquidity infrastructure from day one, which addresses part of that problem, though it does not resolve the question of whether users on a given platform will actually want to trade these contracts.

Adoption will ultimately depend on two things: whether brokers and fintech firms conclude that event contracts are a durable product category worth adding to their suite, and how regulators in each operating jurisdiction choose to treat them. The Third Circuit ruling narrows uncertainty in one corner of the US market. Elsewhere, the rules remain unsettled.

The grant programme is open now. Gate.io has not set a public deadline for applications, so developers considering the programme should check directly for current terms.
