The TenTrade Africa expansion has a new face: Wilfred Obasi joins the offshore CFD (contract for difference) broker as Regional Director for Africa, taking over commercial responsibilities from Victor Ufot.
Obasi brings thirteen years at Exinity to the role, most recently serving as Partner Enablement Manager at the firm’s Dubai office. His background covers client acquisition, partner management and business development across FX and CFD markets, with a consistent focus on African markets.
TenTrade Africa Expansion Gets a New Face in the Leadership Team
In practical terms, Obasi will oversee revenue growth, client acquisition, partnership development and product expansion across the continent. He will also work to adapt TenTrade’s CFD and funded trader (prop trading) offering to local conditions.
‘My primary focus will naturally be on deepening relationships with our partners and brokers here,’ Obasi said.
TenTrade Chief Revenue Officer Andreas Andreou said Obasi’s knowledge of local and regional African markets would shape the broker’s expansion path in the region.
TenTrade is a brand of Evalanch Ltd, licensed by the Seychelles Financial Services Authority under licence number SD082. That offshore structure matters to UK retail investors: the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) does not regulate TenTrade, which means the protections available to UK clients, including the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, do not apply in the same way they would with an FCA-authorised firm.
The broker says it serves over 150,000 active traders worldwide, with access to forex, commodities, indices, shares and cryptocurrencies through the MetaTrader 5 platform, according to PR Newswire UK. Alongside traditional brokerage, TenTrade runs a funded trader programme, copy trading, a PAMM (Percentage Allocation Money Management) scheme, and an education section it calls a Learning Hub.
Marketing Push and Industry Recognition Underpin the Hire
Obasi’s appointment sits inside a broader build-out. Andreas Andreou joined as Chief Revenue Officer in June, after a stint as Chief Sales Officer at INGOT Brokers. Marios Morfakis moved into the Chief Sales Officer seat at TenTrade having run business development at the same firm. Andreou had previously served as Chief Commercial Officer and then Chief Revenue Officer at BDSwiss, and as Head of Business Development at HF Markets DIFC.
On the marketing side, TenTrade signed former Portugal and Barcelona forward Luis Figo as its global brand ambassador in April. The deal is linked to the number 10 shirt Figo wore during his playing career. Figo won the Ballon d’Or and the Champions League, earned 127 caps for the Portuguese national team, and played for Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan, according to Yellow.com.
The Figo partnership launched alongside TenTrade’s ‘Inspiring the Next Number 10’ initiative, a grassroots football programme aimed at young players in Latin America and Africa who, in the company’s words, have the talent but lack the access and resources to develop it.
In June, TenTrade was named Fastest Growing Broker at the Trading Awards Africa 2026, a public vote covering brokers and fintech providers active in African markets. Other category winners at the same ceremony included JustMarkets (Best Customer Service and Best CFD Broker) and XM (Most Trusted Broker), according to Finance Magnates.
Taken together, the award, the Figo deal, the senior hires and the TenTrade Africa expansion strategy paint a picture of a broker committing real resource to the continent. The practical test for that commitment will come through Obasi’s ability to convert partnership networks into sustainable client flows, particularly in markets where retail trading regulation and investor protection frameworks vary considerably from the standards UK-based investors would expect at home.
Watch whether TenTrade follows the regional director appointment with regulatory licensing in any of Africa’s larger domestic markets: a move into a locally regulated jurisdiction would be the clearest sign yet that the expansion is built for the long term rather than the near-term growth cycle.
