Investors holding accounts at MetroTrade can now access options on futures trading through the broker’s web and mobile platform, following a deployment built on technology from Devexperts announced on 22 July 2026.
MetroTrade is the first broker to go live with the new module, which Devexperts says allows brokers to offer the product category without constructing the underlying infrastructure themselves.
What Options on Futures Trading Gives Retail Traders
Options on futures are contracts that give the holder the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell a futures contract at a set price before expiry. They sit a step beyond standard futures because traders can define their maximum loss upfront while keeping exposure to price moves in the underlying market.
The Devexperts module covers CME-listed contracts across equity indices, energy and metals. It combines an options chain (a live display of available strikes and expirations), multi-leg trading (entering spread or combination strategies in a single order), and an earnings analyser, all within MetroTrader’s existing single-account interface.
‘The addition of options on futures will provide MetroTrade’s traders with the opportunity to execute more advanced trading strategies with greater flexibility,’ said Jon Light, Senior Director of Product Management at Devexperts.
MetroTrade President David Klotz said the two companies built the supporting infrastructure ‘from the ground up,’ reflecting a development partnership rather than an off-the-shelf integration.
Who MetroTrade Is and Where It Sits Regulatorily
MetroTrade was founded in 2023 and is regulated as a US futures broker. It is a member of the National Futures Association (NFA) and operates under the oversight of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Customer funds are held in segregated accounts under CFTC Rule 1.20, the standard protection requiring brokers to keep client money separate from their own.
The broker positions itself on competitive pricing, describing its offering as combining transparent, low-cost commissions with competitive intraday margins. Its co-founders bring backgrounds from across the retail trading world: Ingmar Mattus co-founded Tickmill, a global CFD broker; David Klotz previously worked at Crypto.com and Phillip Capital; and Antonis Dessipris serves as chief investment officer, according to the MetroTrade About page.
Devexperts, which was founded in 2002, develops multi-asset trading platforms, matching engines, exchange solutions and market data services for global capital markets. The MetroTrade deployment is the first live implementation of its options-on-futures module, giving the firm a reference customer in a product category where Trading Technologies, CQG and Broadridge already have established infrastructure.
What This Means for the Competitive Landscape
Options on futures have historically been the preserve of professional and institutional traders, partly because the technology to support multi-leg strategies and real-time options chains at retail scale is genuinely complex to build. The white-label model Devexperts is offering, where a broker can add the capability without building it, lowers that barrier.
For retail traders at MetroTrade, the practical change is access to strategies that were previously harder to execute: defined-risk trades on crude oil futures, hedges on equity index exposure, or spread positions across metals contracts, all managed within a single account rather than across separate platforms.
The key question for other brokers watching this deployment is whether the module can be integrated cleanly into existing platforms without disrupting current account structures. MetroTrade’s live status over the coming months will serve as the clearest test of that.
